FOLLOW THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD: TIPS AND TRICKS TO PAVING YOUR LANDSCAPE AND SWIMMING POOL
Paving! Whether it be concrete, brick, granite, bluestone, sandstone, porcelain or any other product on the market, it’s the one material (apart from grass if you’re lucky enough to have the space) that will consume most of your backyard.
Finding the right paving size, style or color need not be a daunting task.
It’s all about your brief; being creative and mixing up the paving style and pattern to suit the particular area of your garden, within budget of course!
Follow the yellow brick road:
3 important tips tips to get you started on your landscape paving.
Paving around a pool: Large format tiles (500 x 500 or 300 x 600) means less grout lines and a more continuous spread of space making the area look and feel bigger.
Bluestone is a safe option, readily available, affordable and comes in a range of finishes; split, sawn and honed to name a few
If you’re feeling the need to break away from the pack, think about using a ‘salt and pepper’ granite for a classic and textured look.
Courtyard paving: If you’re a hands on green thumb gardener, break up the paving and introduce some mondo grass. If gardening isn’t you, then break up the paving with some granitic gravel or pebbles.
Remember to leave enough flat space for your outdoor table and chairs!
Creating a path: Organic steppers (more rounded than crazy paving) is a great way to create an informal path and to introduce more planting. Try it down the side of your house or turn it into a feature from your front door to letterbox.
